Bundle: Epic High-Speed Action Movies
Gone in 60 Seconds – Nicolas Cage
plays notorious car thief Randall "Memphis" Raines in this
loosely-based remake of the 1974 car chase epic. Raines reluctantly re-enters
the life of crime he walked away from in order to help his brother Kip, who
finds himself in over his head with stolen-car broker Raymond Calitri who needs
a list of 50 exotic vehicles on a container ship by Friday morning, and getting
the news on Monday doesn’t leave him a lot of time to get the job done. Beyond
delivering solid popcorn flick entertainment, especially for gearheads, Gone in 60 Seconds is also notable for
“Eleanor”, the highly modified 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback which plays the “star
car” of the movie and sports a look that was so striking that it launched
numerous copycat conversions off-screen.
Smokey & the
Bandit Special Edition – Undoubtedly Burt Reynolds’ finest hour,
this fun action-comedy pits Bandit and his truck-driving partner Cledus against
both the law and the clock as they attempt to get 400 cases of beer from Texas
to Atlanta with just 28 hours to do it. On the way out of town, Bandit picks up
Carrie, a hitchhiking bride-to-be who just left her groom, Junior, at the
altar. Junior, as it turns out, is the son of overzealous sheriff Buford T.
Justice, and the offence sets off an epic high speed pursuit across the
Southeast to catch the pair and shut down their beer hauling mission in the
Fast and Furious
6-Disc Collection – Sometimes bad is good, but in this case bad
is great. Whether you’re willing to admit it or not, the Fast and the Furious franchise has become a gateway drug into the
world of cars. For many who love all things automotive, the series has always
been an unabashed guilty pleasure with movies that straddle the line between
camp and ill-conceived pretense with such authority that it’s hard not to love
them. No one will ever accuse the filmmakers of meticulous realism, nor the
actors of Oscar-caliber performances, but those who’re willing to overlook – or
embrace – these elements of the
series will be treated to films with timeless automotive hilarity, abundant
gearhead inside jokes that will make you crack a knowing grin, and a never-ending
showcase of crazy stunts, often in even crazier cars.
with all true art, lengthy debates can be had about the best and the worst in
the series, with some viewers' favorites ranking at the bottom of others'
scale. As a result, these are great party films.
